Get Involved

Since our inception over 30 years ago, Lake County Land Trust, a relatively small but mighty Land Trust, was established and built by many volunteer community members who wanted to protect the land and waters of our beautiful Lake County.  We value our volunteers who share their time and talents and are inspired by their love of the Land.

The land needs you! Whether you’re interested in helping with maintenance, habitat restoration, leading hikes, educating people about our mission or helping with our special events, there could be a role for you!  As a Lake County Land Trust volunteer, you’ll get the training and tools you need to advance our shared vision to preserve Lake County’s natural resources

Explore our volunteer opportunities and select one or maybe a few areas you are interested in helping with at the Lake County Land Trust.

DOCENTS AND EDUCATORS

Volunteer workdays regularly take place at a variety of Land Trust properties once a month, weather-permitting. We select projects that enhance our lands such as fencing repairs, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, bench and signage maintenance, mapping of flora, and more. Join the list and get your hands dirty! No prior experience necessary.

We have our Nature Center at the Rodman Preserve open every Saturday and would like to open it more often with your help. The Land Trust also offers guided walks occasionally at Rodman and Kuulanapo Preserve and sometimes hosts youth groups at our Nature Center and Preserves. Learn from local experts about the natural and cultural history of our preserves and share your knowledge with our visitors. Join our list and be on the land! No prior experience necessary.

CORPORATE OR GROUP VOLUNTEERING

We currently have a few events like our Spring Celebration and Annual Dinner in the fall. These fundraisers are fun and enjoyed by our supporters. Help us make these events successful by volunteering in the steering committee, event set-up or clean up, and/or hosting activities at the events. Join our list and get ready for some fun! Occasionally the Land Trust sets up booths at various events in our community. Help spread the word about our mission by volunteering at an event. Join our list and be a Land Trust ambassador! No prior experience necessary.

The Lake County Land Trust works closely with the local businesses and community groups to offer large group volunteer opportunities. Groups may arrange their own volunteer event or join an existing event. If you are interested in learning how your group can organize an activity, contact Meg Harper at 707-262-0707 or megharper@lakecountylandtrust.org.
